FORT WORTH, Texas -- The USTFCCCA released its week four national rankings on Monday. TCU's men's track team moved up to No. 11 after being ranked No.27 in week three, the team's highest ranking since week three of the 2016 season.
TCU had several standout performances at the Texas Tech Shootout over the weekend that led to the No.11 ranking, starting with the men's 4X400 relay. Jostyn Andrews, Emmanuel Ogwo, Kevin McClanahan, and Derrick Mokaleng recorded a first-place mark of 3:04.25, a new school record, the fifth fastest in the nation, and eighth fastest in collegiate history.
Mokaleng cut his 400m time down to a personal-best 45.76, the fifth fastest in the nation and fastest in the Big 12.
TCU also has two triple jumpers ranked the top ten nationally. All-American Scotty Newton jumped 16.25m on Friday and ranks No. 4 nationally. In his TCU debut, Chengetayi Mapaya jumped 16.04m, No. 10 in the nation. TCU is the only team in the nation with more than one jumper in the top 10. Newton and Mapaya rank No.2 and No.3 respectively in the Big 12.
The Horned Frogs return to action at the Big 12 Championships, scheduled for Feb. 23-24 in Ames, Iowa.
