FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team could not put together a consistent match as Duke came away with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-18) victory on Friday night in the opening match of the Fight in the Fort inside The Rickel at the University Recreation Center.
The Blue Devils (5-2) got out to a six-point lead over the Horned Frogs (4-3) in the opening set before TCU began to chip away at the lead and tie it up at 22-22. The teams battled back-and-forth and traded points until Duke recorded a kill and ace to take the opening set 27-25. Duke was then able to carry the momentum from the first set into the final two frames as they went on to hit .347 and total five service aces in the sweep of TCU.
Anna Walsh led the team for the second time this season with 11 kills to go along with a .643 hitting clip and a season- and career-high six digs. Sarah Swanson was good for six kills and led the team at the net in blocking with 4.0 in the match.

Quotes of the Match
TCU Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer
"This was an out of character match for us tonight from what I have learned about our team so far this year. We're typically a very strong serving team and Duke passed really well tonight. Maybe it was a little bit our serving, but I think they handled the ball well and not many people come into our gym and do receive that well. Hats off to them and they had a lot of kids with some outstanding performances.
"For us, our middles did a really great job and Anna (Walsh) just went off on them. She hit .643 on 14 swings and she had a great match but we needed to get it done at the pins a lot more. We struggled there tonight. We struggled to score at the pins and we struggled to pass the ball. It made it tough to run our offense and we got stuck in some rotations. We have two matches tomorrow and we have to have a short memory and get back at it."
